Traceability
Our commitment to traceability and sustainability is at the heart of what we do. Scan the QR code on your product, or type in the batch number below to trace your seafood.
Why do we value traceability?
1. Always know the origin of your seafood
Our traceability system ensures that consumers can verify the origin, legality, and sustainability of the seafood they purchase. This helps in combating food fraud and mislabeling, providing assurance of the product’s safety and authenticity.
2. Promoting sustainable fisheries
By tracking the seafood from the point of catch to the point of sale, we support sustainable fishing practices and help in the conservation of fish stocks. This approach aligns with national and global efforts to prevent illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing.
3. Market access & responsible trade
Traceability enhances market access and trade opportunities by providing transparent and verifiable information about the seafood. This helps Canadian Indigenous fisheries and their fishermen to compete on a (inter)national level, promoting fair trade practices.
4. Community Engagement
Our traceability system not only informs consumers about the product but also highlights the importance of supporting Indigenous communities. By choosing our products, consumers are directly contributing to the economic, cultural, and food security of these communities.
Our traceability process
Electronic Records
We use electronic records to track the entire supply chain, ensuring that all key information is readily available and accessible. This includes details such as the species’ common and scientific names, harvest location, landing location, community information, and processing dates.
Unique QR codes
Each of our products comes with a unique QR code that, when scanned, provides detailed information about the specific location where the seafood was harvested. This includes the method of harvest, the FAO Area, and the Indigenous community responsible for the catch.
